Photography is synthetic and immediate image. It can evoke, in a glance, all the emotion and symbolic complexity of a social
event. This section will show series of photographs made either by a single author or by different ones. We will follow the guidelines of the photo-essay, understood as a way of thinking through images consisting in the creative assemblage of different photographs and texts. As for films, we are especially interested in the imbrication between ethics and aesthetics in the use of photography during fieldwork. What is a “good” photography of a healing ritual, and how its “beauty” relates to its value in terms of knowledge and to its ethical stance?
